Dozens of organizations are now monitoring the progress of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and to understand how and where $787 billion will be used. Accountability and transparency are the key themes. The Obama administration has launched Recovery.gov as a way for you to keep track. There's a map that shows estimated job effect by state. The www.recovery.wa.gov website is designed to help Washingtonians understand the recovery package and locate information that helps local governments find the right place to apply for funding. It also will serve as a "one-stop" location for accountability information so residents can see that the recovery money is being spent wisely.
USA Today Digs Into Job Forecasts for 2009 by teaming up with Moody's Economy.com to forecast U.S. job growth by geographic region and by industry. The graphic will update each month with revised data. This current graphic shows last year's actual job growth and forecasted job growth for 2009 and 2009-12. It covers every U.S. state and the District of Columbia and fourteen industry sectors. The data are seasonally adjusted. By clicking on the image of Washington State it forecasts that the state will have the fastest job recovery in the nation if one accepts the assumptions behind the model.
